San Diego Youth Services Resource Family Agency is looking to certify, train and support families willing to open their hearts
and homes to our most vulnerable population; Foster Children!

  3 Initial Interview

This will take place in your home with your family

SDYS will conduct a primary home inspection and an initial interview of the family

CCL Criminal Background Documents
Health Screening and TB Test


(Cost is $50/adult)

       Complete Background Check
       (all adults 18yrs + in home &
       within property line)

  5 Complete Homestudy

SDYS will complete a comprehensive interview of all family members to ensure the family matches program needs

SDYS will conduct several references

 1.   County reference approval

 2.   Personal character references

Complete 40-hours of   

Intensive Treatment   
Foster Care Training    

Once steps 1-6 are completed Foster Parent applicants will be invited to attend the 40-hours pre-certifactions trainings

Trainings are conducted 3 times a week, generally Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm and Saturday trainings from 10am - 4pm 

*Must also complete 8 hour CPR & First Aid not included in the 40-hour pre-certification

If there were recommendations to update home to meet CCL standards this inspection will follow-up with confirmation of compliance

Final Home Inspection   8 
  9 Foster Parent Agreements    

SDYS will go over the program expectation and agreements to ensure safety, stability and well-being of children and family

SDYS Resource Family Agency will be happy to welcome you and your family to ours!
