Job Announcement:
Mental Health Therapist
The Bridgman Group Home

Salary and Benefits: $39,000 per year plus excellent benefits 

Responsibilities: Accountable to the Program Manager for the provision of therapy for youth enrolled in the Bridgman Home, coordination of intake and placement of youth, and participation in weekly treatment team meetings, the Utilization Review process, and file reviews. 

Duties:

    • Provide individual, group, and family therapy (as applicable) to youth and their families placed in the group home.  
    • Assess, diagnose and develop a comprehensive service plan for the youth, in accordance with the County of San Diego Children’s Mental Health and Outpatient Policy and Procedure Manual.  
    • Participate in all treatment team meetings and the utilization review process. 
    • Identify, establish and maintain excellent relationships with referral sources including: County of San Diego Child Welfare and Probation Departments and other applicable in and out of county placement agencies.  
    • Actively network and provide presentations to potential referral agencies to ensure the group home operates at full capacity.
    • Coordinate pre-placement and placement meetings with youth and referring agency.
    • Develop youth Case-Management Service Plans with youth and treatment team input.
    • Participate in all required staff meetings, trainings and clinical supervision.
    • Provide case-management services to ensure youth are enrolled in ancillary treatment/ILS services as needed.
    • Inform group home Program Manager of incidents or concerns regarding quality of care and other compliance issues.
    • Complete 40 hours of training the first year of employment and 20 hours of on-going training thereafter.
    • Maintain required documentation and client files in compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) and County Mental Health Services (CMHS) documentation regulations.
    • Maintain working knowledge of and comply with all Bridgman Group Home, CCL and Medi-Cal regulations, policies and procedures in performing applicable job functions.

Qualifications: License-eligible (MFT, LCSW, PhD) by the state of California, or Master’s or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or Social Work. Must be fluent in American Sign Language, have a good working knowledge of Deaf culture and be able to demonstrate cultural competency in providing therapy to Deaf adolescents with unique behavioral and mental health needs. Therapist will possess a minimum of two years of experience working in the mental health field with Deaf adolescents. Strong diagnostic and assessment skills are required and therapist will have experience in working with different therapeutic modalities such as art therapy, play therapy and/or sandplay therapy. Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with childcare staff, youth and other professionals is essential. Must be able to be cleared to work with minors including a clean criminal history and DMV record. Must be willing to use own, properly insured, transportation for work purposes with mileage reimbursement.
