Bi-Lingual Mental Health Clinician/MFT Intern
East County Behavioral Health Clinic

 

Salary: $37,500/year Plus Benefits

Specific Responsibilities:  Accountable to the Division Director and Program Manager.  Responsible for providing individual and family therapy to youth and families in East County utilizing a Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis, Treatment (EPSDT) model. 

Duties:

  1. Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality.  
  2. Provide clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning and individual/family/group psychotherapy for youth identified as EPSDT eligible.
  3. Provide family therapy on an ongoing basis as part of a systems approach to treatment.  Treatment may be clinic based and/or provided at the school.
  4. Participate in weekly Treatment Teams with the Program Manager, clinicians, staff psychiatrist, and case managers for case conceptualization, evaluation of treatment, and future treatment recommendations.
  5. Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision, and all mandated county training meetings.
  6. Train in and implement a brief model of therapy, Brief Strategic Therapy.
  7. Ensure that the medical record of each youth meets Medi-Cal standards and that all file paperwork timelines are met; this includes completion of progress notes on a daily basis.
  8. Maintain a working knowledge of the MIS Anasazi system.
  9. Follow all legal and ethical guidelines pertaining to the treatment of youth and families as per the state and county requirements (e.g. Child Abuse Reporting, Duty to Warn, Confidentiality, Grievance Procedures, Informed Consent, Serious Incident Reporting).
  10. Maintain a minimum of 20 hours of clinical-related training per year (as per your    start date), 4 of which must be in Cultural Competency.
  11. Maintain good working knowledge of SDYS EPSDT Policy and Procedure Manual and San Diego County’s Rehabilitation Options and Outpatient Services Policy and Procedures Manuals. 
  12.  

Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher in Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or Social Work with a minimum of two years experience. Must have a strategic therapy orientation and/or be willing to train in strategic therapy protocols for conduct disorder, anxiety, and depressive disorders.  Knowledge of case plan development and collaboration with multiple agencies and public entities. Registration with the CA BBS as LMFT or MFT intern required (may consider MSW/ACSW or LCSW). Familiarity with brief strategic therapy strongly preferred.  Must possess excellent oral and written skills; work well autonomously and with multiple people/disciplines.  Bi-lingual and competence with other cultures.  Must have reliable vehicle and relevant auto insurance, plus a clean driving record.
