Parent Partner
Community Services for Families (CSF)

 

Part Time: 10hours/week                                                         Rate: $15.38/hr

Specific Responsibilities:  Accountable to Program Manager.  Responsible for the provision of direct services to up to 5 youth/families in the Child Welfare system. 

Duties:

  1. Ensure that all component services and activities adhere to and uphold rigorous standards of San Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality.
  2. Sustain the team commitment to County of San Diego CSOC Principles.
  3. Sustain SDYS’s commitment to family and youth driven care.
  4. Understand the role and leadership activities of the Board of Directors.
  5. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and volunteers within the program, the center, the agency, and the community.
  6. Participate in all required trainings and consultation/supervisions.
  7. Assist in updating agency policies and procedures
  8. Carry agency big picture
  9. Stay current on best-practices for Parent Partners.
  10. Participate in carry out agency plans/vision
  11. Participate in appropriate agency-wide committees as applicable.
  12. Attend all required agency and county trainings and meetings.
  13. Maintain accurate and timely uniform record documentation on all youth/families.
  14. Maintain clear, effective and open communication.
  15. Meet initially one-on-one with assigned families to review A Parent’s Guild to the Child Welfare System booklet and video and explain CWS services.
  16. Continue to meet regularly with the parent/caregiver to monitor case plan completion, documenting progress in the case file.
  17. Assist the family in identifying potential crises and to develop a crisis plan.
  18. Assist the family to build a support network (family, faith, friends).
  19. Attend and support parents/caregivers in Team Decision Making (TDM) and other meetings with providers, social workers, case managers and other professionals.
  20. Participate in CWS workgroups and other committees as requested.
  21. Participate in implementing agency’s resource development plan as appropriate.
  22. Participate in grant development as appropriate.
  23. Report and coordinate any necessary facility or equipment repairs with Supervisor as needed.  With other staff, participate in the maintenance of the day-to-day cleanliness and order of the physical facility and grounds. 

Qualifications:  Must have direct experience as a consumer or care-giver of a consumer of child welfare system (i.e. birth parents who have successfully completed a Child Welfare Services case plan under dependency or voluntary services.)  Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School diploma.  Bi-lingual preferred.  Able to work in a diverse environment and demonstrates cultural competence.  Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned by Program Manager and/or as needed.  Willing to complete background check and able to pass clearance to work with Minors.  Must have reliable transportation.
