ILS Case Manager
The Storefront Drop-In-Center
Part-Time: 20 hours/week $14.90 hour
Specific Responsibilities: Accountable to Program Manager. To assist full-time Independent Living Skills (ILS) Case Manager in making service-partner appointments, providing transportation, leading groups and supervising service-partners in Drop-in Center and Night Shelter milieu.
Duties:
- Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality. Participate in their refinement.
- Acquire knowledge of the role and responsibility of the SDYS Board of Director and stay current.
- Assist in training, developing, supervising, recognizing and evaluating, volunteers and staff.
- Maintain data collection and contract compliance of records as required.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Transport service-partners to educational, mental health, medical, employment, legal and other appointments.
- Participate and implement volunteer system as appropriate. Supervise and evaluate volunteers as assigned.
- Maintain monthly scheduling to ensure adequate staffing of milieu.
- Assist in updating agency policies and procedures. Carry agency big picture and stay current on agency activities.
- Participate in and carry out agency plans/vision.
- Assist ILS Case Manager in following up with service-partners’ needs.
- Facilitate ILS groups.
- Supervise service-partners in milieu and on recreational activities.
- Create and foster community youth development.
- Link, refer and advocate with appropriate agencies/support services for individual service partners when appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention, on telephone and in person, during all working hours.
- Provide first aid in minor emergencies. Assist in securing medical services for serious problems.
- Network in community to secure resources/jobs for service-partners.
- Provide/teach job training and interviewing skills.
- Provide communication between Drop-In Center and Night Shelter.
- Participate in implementing agency's resource development plan as appropriate.
- Maintain program’s cleanliness and safety.
- Maintain warm, welcoming office grounds and facilities.
- Maintain a working knowledge of MIS equipment.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Social Science or Behavioral Science or equivalent knowledge (generally 4 years of experience). 2 years experience working with high-risk youth preferred. Knowledge of working with life-skills. Bilingual Spanish-English speaking helpful. Able to work in a very diverse setting with people of all backgrounds, culture and orientation. Able to lift and carry 25lbs. Able to be cleared to drive and have valid driver’s license Available to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.
