SDYCS is proud to provide opportunities for our youth to become more culturally enriched. At the Storefront emergency shelter for youth, we offer an innovative Art Expression program to the Service Partners. Through this program, the youth learn to use art as a coping mechanism, a positive outlet and an expressive platform. One of the major supporters of this program is Mixture - a posh home furnishings and accessories store located on Kettner Boulevard in Little Italy. Mixture offered to host an art show for the Storefront as a way to spread awareness of the program and to allow the youth to showcase their work.

On November 11, 2005, art work created by our very own Service Partners was included in a Kettner Nights exhibition of the many notable art and design collections in San Diego. The Storefront show featured several pieces of art that were created during Art Expression. Two of the Storefront artists were on-site to discuss their art and experiences. This beautiful show drew in crowds of spectators. Everyone left with a smile on their face. The show was a success and we hope to bring you more in the future!
