 | The Mid-City Communities Center offers prevention education, treatment, and recovery programs for young people facing alcohol and drug issues. These programs help them and their families build better neighborhoods. Jodi & Jonathan She was sixteen years old when she entered the Mid-City Communities Center's Teen Options program with her 2-year-old son, Jonathan. She told center workers that her son was blind, deaf, dumb, and had serious mobility problems. Jodi attributed Jonathan's problems to the fact she used drugs while she was pregnant. Staff members worked with Jodi for nine months to establish a sober support system, continue her schooling, and guide her to resources which could assist her with Jonathan's disabilities. It was discovered that Jonathan's problems were the result of cerebral palsy. He needed, and received, strong glasses and a hearing aid. Jodi was also able to get her son physical therapy and special schooling. Jodi, meanwhile, remained sober, finished high school and the Teen Options program, and became employed with the Americorp program.
